My Dad
When I opened my eyes for the first time,
my tiny fingers held your hand.
From my first steps to running through life
at full throttle, you were always there –
with that quiet smile.
When I failed and the world seemed to laugh,
you, Mom and Bhai stood beside me. When I thought
it was my last chance, you gave me one more –
and when I succeeded, you threw me in the air
with pride.
No complaints. No grudges. Just a peaceful strength
that held our family together.
For me, you have always been like Lord Shiva –
calmly carrying our world on your shoulders.
Today, age may have slowed your body, but not your spirit.
You still fight every day, as if telling life –
“Hold on… not yet.”
Words may be fewer now, but your eyes and gestures
say enough.
Once, my little fingers held your hand for strength.
Today, I hold yours.
And inside me, I am still that little boy who believes –
as long as Dad is there, everything will be alright.
My story began with you, Dad.
The poem above has been written straight from the heart by my closest friend, Mr. Vivek Mishra, for his beloved Papa (Father).
Each word beautifully expresses the love, respect, gratitude, and cherished bond he shares with his father. It is a heartfelt expression of a son’s emotions for the person who has always held a very special place in his heart.
